Katie & Travis are Married!

June 18, 2012
classic wedding portrait

Last week was a good week. Not only did we get to work on flowers for TWO special brides, but I also got some amazing photos of Travis & Katie’s Memorial Day weekend wedding from Lauren at Lauren Wakefield Photography!!!! Lauren is incredibly talented and her blog is fantastic. Be sure to check out her work.

Shall we get to the photos?

Katie & Travis were married in the small Village of Arlington, WI at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

The groom wore a simple mini calla and spray rose boutonniere. I love the classic clean lines of this bout.

This has got to be one of the best first kiss shots we’ve seen yet! Look at their smiles shining through!

Katie carried a mix of roses and mini callas in muted shades and her maids carried simple hand tied mixed flower bouquets in lavender and ivory. I really love the way light colored bouquets contrast with dark maids dresses.

This was our first time providing floral at Kestrel Ridge in Columbus, WI. We really enjoyed the dark woodwork and gorgeous sage color throughout the venue. It’s a beautiful place to hold a reception.

Katie & Travis, it was my pleasure to create the floral for your wedding. Best wishes to a beautiful couple, inside and out!

Ode to the Compote

May 28, 2012

Just before Mother’s Day, a fellow Chapel Designer Isha from Isha Foss Events suggested we all create a compote design and take over the blogging world with them on May 29th. I L.O.V.E. love compotes so I was in! They are really great vessels to design in. These footed bowls serve as a beautiful foundation to a design. I love how they add just a bit of height and lift the flowers off the table ever so slightly. I also adore that I rarely depend on floral foam since learning how to design in a compote with a floral frog or pin frog.

So, I set out to design a compote. I knew I’d incorporate one of my vintage milk glass pieces and I wanted the design to be romantic and just a tad whimsical. Ever since my trip to NYC in March I’ve been obsessed with Russian Olive foliage. Its got the prettiest silver leaves and when it’s in bloom the smell is divine. When I tried to order some from my local wholesaler I was shot down. I may or may not have snipped these pretty stems from a local parking lot.

I also included ‘quicksand’ roses, ‘white majolica’ spray roses, white veronica, pale blush clematis and yellow columbine.

So there you have it. Do you love the compote as much as we do? Be sure to stop by check out the eye candy on all the other Chapel Designers blogs too:

Turning over a new leaf…

April 30, 2012
bleeding heart with studio keys

The past few months at Alluring Blooms have been exciting, inspiring, overwhelming and maybe just a little terrifying!

In March we had the pleasure of traveling to NYC. I had the opportunity to study with florists I admire more than words can say. I met florists from all over this continent and now I can’t imagine my life without all these people who’ve turned into amazing friends.

I left NYC inspired to take our business to the next level. I couldn’t be happier to announce that we’re opening an office on the capitol square in beautiful downtown Madison, WI. We’re located at 30 W Mifflin St just above the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. While it’s not a retail store front, this consultation space is going to open new doors for our Madison clients. We are so excited to have a dedicated office space to use for client consultations. We’ll also be adding a new service for our Madison clients – stay tuned for details.
