Today was a beautiful, windy fall day and it reminded me so much of this wedding day at Bishops Bay last year. It’s Sydney & Mike’s first anniversary, and what better way for me to document the day than with a blog post?
If I could pick a couple words to describe this day they would be: fun, elegant and beautiful. This lakeside cocktail party was full of so many pretty details, and I’m really excited to share some of them with you. A big thanks to Valerie Halling for perfectly capturing the day and sharing photos with me.
We focused our floral on seasonal blooms and used a mix of cream, blush, raspberry and burgundy to pop against the stunning dusty blue hues incorporated in the wedding party attire and reception napkins.
Centerpieces were created in two different styles to create a bit of visual interest in the tented reception space. I’m a big fan of having different centerpiece styles. It makes the eye travel up and down in a space instead of every table having the same thing. A trio of pillar candles in clear glass vases was accented with loose greens and flowers on half the tables. The other half of the tables featured a footed gold compote bowl overflowing with lush, textural blooms. Gold mercury glass votives were used throughout the space to make the two styles of centerpiece cohesive.
And I’m always a proponent of reusing items to create the most impactful display with items you’ve already paid for. Repurposing the bridal party bouquets down the head table or kings table by chopping them off low and then dropping them into opaque vases gives the illusion of a very lush tablescape without any extra investment.
A huge congratulations again to Sydney & Mike as they celebrate their 1 year anniversary. Thank you for trusting us to create your floral for your special day!
